At
2:10am on August 14, 2008, units from ADPS responded to a reported fire alarm
at Maple Grove Apartments. This is an independent living apartment house for
senior citizens. While enroute, we received several calls reporting a fire at
the apartment complex. When units arrived, there was heavy fire on the west
wing. The deluge gun was activated to protect firefighters and residents while
rescues were performed. In all, 10 people were rescued from 1st
and 2nd floor windows. There were over 75 residents in the building
at the time of the fire. No serious injuries were reported. All residents were
accounted for. ADPS was assisted by Sheridan Township Fire, Albion Township
fire, Homer Fire, Marengo Township Fire, Marshall Fire, Concord Fire,
Parma/Sandstone Fire, Eaton Rapids City Fire, Albion Community Ambulance,
Jackson Community Ambulance, Marshall Ambulance and Life Care Ambulance.
